At John Brainerd Elementary School, we focus on the development of character with a comprehensive school-wide program that teaches ten core character traits to all students. These traits (virtues or values) are introduced through classroom activities, school-wide assemblies and incentive programs. Our goal is to help children develop positive character traits that will guide them throughout their lives. It is essential that schools and parents become partners in the journey of educating children in academics as well as character. Developing positive character traits isn’t something that children can do on their own. Families are the most powerful influence on developing good character. School is an ideal place to teach and practice sound judgment and virtuous decision-making. This partnership between school and home makes Brainerd School an exciting place for learning, growing and succeeding together.
