5th Grade - Room 20 - Math, Science, & Social Studies

  • Dear Parents,

Welcome back to a new school year!  We are very excited to have your child in our classes.  We believe that by all of us working together we can make this a very successful year.  We consider it of prime importance that you be an active part of your child's education.  Here are a few ways you can help your child get off to a GREAT start:

    1.              Put your child’s name on all items that come to school (jackets, lunch boxes, school supplies, etc.)

    2.             If you are sending money to school please place it in your child’s wallet or in an envelope with his/her name on it.  The office is not responsible for delivering money to students, cafeteria, etc.

    3.             Your child will need a healthy snack everyday.  A healthy snack, in addition to breakfast, is beneficial to your child. Lunch will be served around 12:30pm.

We are a peanut free classroom!

    4.            Reading is important!  Have your child read to you, or if the book is too difficult, read it to them.  Research shows that adults reading to children can be very valuable to the development of listening and modeling skills.

    5.           Please remember to look over your child’s papers (including homework) each night.  Look and ask for papers that are messages from the Mount Holly School District.  Some papers may need your signature and are to be returned to school as soon as possible.

    6.            Your child will copy his/her homework from the board into a homework book/agenda every day.  (We will be providing this book.) The homework book is required to be signed or initialed by an adult each night.  Since we will be signing your child’s book every day, this is a great opportunity to communicate with each other.  We will be checking all homework books every morning for your signature/initials.

    7.            Textbooks will be sent home so they can be covered during the first few days of school.  Looking through them will give you an idea of the concepts that will be taught this year.

    8.            Students received their “specials” schedule today! Please plan accordingly if your child needs to wear sneakers for P.E.

By working together, we’ll have a super year!  If you have questions or concerns at any time, please feel free to call or email us:
